Our Story
The Valley Chordsmen were founded in 1947 by a small group of Waterbury men who shared a passion for four-part a cappella harmony. What began as informal sing-arounds at the local YMCA grew into one of Connecticut's most beloved barbershop choruses.
For over seven decades we have performed at concert halls, community events, hospitals, and holiday celebrations across the Naugatuck Valley. We are proud members of the Barbershop Harmony Society and compete annually at the Northeastern District competition.
Today the chorus numbers more than forty singers ranging in age from their twenties to their eighties — united by a love of close harmony and the belief that music is best when shared.
